Emma-Louise Grady Art
My paintings explore the practice of intuitive mark-making. Inspired by vivid colours; my surroundings also influence my creative process. Through the exploration of patterns, my work represents a sense of freedom and fluidity. The patterns created are unique to each painting, allowing them to stand on their own. With every intricate detail committed to my painting, it creates worlds that exist only within each other. Each piece created has endured a variety of process stages, allowing it to have a significant amount of layering to each painting, creating a sense of depth. In a world where commitment to a concept is favourable, my work stands alone. Vibrancy takes the lead.
Profile
My artistic journey so far
Studying contemporary art since 2013, I have achieved a BA honors degree in Fine Art from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design.
Working as an independent artist since my graduation in 2019 has further refined my artistic skills. I am also an Artist in Residency for the company Enterprise Mentoring. This has provided me with my own studio in the city centre of Glasgow, Scotland.
During the months of September and October of 2019, I had the opportunity to live and work as an artist in Florence after winning the John Kinross Scholarship. This experience has helped me flourish as an artist, encouraging me to explore different mediums, compositions, and colours.
I was also given the opportunity to exhibit my work at the Royal Scottish Academy for their exhibition, 'New Contemporaries 2020'. This is where I was awarded the 'Fleming-Wyfold Foundation Award, for best painter or draughtsman/woman'
2020.
With each day my practice continues to evolve and explore the world around me. As I continue to grow, so too will my paintings. I hope for you to also accompany me on my journey.
